Friday (16.4): The day begins by reading the editor page of Hesari (alias: Helsingin Sanomat). Then it comes time to leave school.First thing I do after my school day I read the end of Hesari. Usually when I read Hesari I leave aside the cultural section, ads, and some other section (depends on how much they interest me). Especially weekly appearance car section, science section and travelling section interest me. After reading Hesari I start to read Tekniikka ja Talous –broadsheet and Talouselämä -tabloid. After them I go to my computer and I go to Iltalehti website, where I found day’s biggest and funniest headlines. I spend about one hour on my computer per day in a weekday. After that I have my homework, other home duties and hobbies waiting for me.In the evening I watch ten o’clock news with my parents. After news we discuss with my dad jokily that is the apocalypse coming because of the volcanic eruption and should we think about moving south.
Saturday (17.4): I wake up and clock is about twelve am. I take some breakfast and start to beg the best parts of this day’s Hesari from my parents. I get the car section “jihuuu!!!”. When I get enough of reading Hesari I go to a computer at the end of the day (almost). In the evening I watch ten o’clock news with my parents.
Sunday (18.4): The Day start and again by reading Hesari. I also watch news about the flight ban because my aunt is on the road in Span and he was asking me to monitor the flight situation. In the evening I watch ten o’clock news with my parents.
My Media using has several faces and it is not easy to explain. In my mind I am average Media consumer. For example I read very public newspapers like Helsingin Sanomat and some others, net sides like Iltalehti and I watch TV-programs like ten o’clock news. I also discuss very much about the today’s burning issues with my Friends and parents and I try to keep myself up to date. Especially science interests me and I like reading about new inventions, how they work and what like meaning in future they could have, for example apples new iphone interest me and I have wondered should I buy one. I use media about 2 hours per day and in a weekend bit more. I could say my forms of media use are balanced. I use media for different purposes. I don’t usually combine fun and benefit like if I am reading Iltalehti I usually read it for my entertainment and Hesari for being informed.
I am part of the media because it is part of me. We both couldn’t live without each other. The biggest job of the media is to tell us about society and give us ways to influence.
